If you don't want to shift rooms, is it possible to re-arrange furniture so his bed is as far away from the wall/window as possible to give you some reassurance that if something so unlikely did happen, he's not right in the damage path?

We gave up our master bedroom and moved to the back of the house with the kids to be in the room next to them.

We use the master bedroom as a guest room.

thats what I'd be doing.. Move everyone to the back fo the house, then you'll have your mind at ease both ways..
