DS2 is 4 months old and currently sleeps in our room in his bassinette both overnight and for his day sleeps.
Problem is, he's growing out of it at an alarming rate and I think at most we may have a few more weeks before he can no longer sleep in it.
So my dilemna....
He has his own room at the other end of the house with his cot in it. It is next door to his 2 year old brother.
I am very reluctant to put him in his own room for a few reasons:
1) He wakes at least twice a night for feeds and I don't want him waking his brother up;
2) His room is literally at the other end of the house and even though I have an Angel Care monitor, I worry about him being that far away. He just seems too little
3) I'm lazy and don't want to be trudging to the other end of the house to feed him and settle him every night. At the moment I just pick him up, feed him in bed and then pop him back in his bassinette.
Our bedroom is quite big so I'm hoping that his cot will fit in there. If it does, then we'll move his cot in and he'll stay in with us. I think...
i was worried about DD2 waking DD1, which she did at first, but she got used to it and rearly wakes now!! their rooms are right next to each other and DD1's door is open!, they do adjust!
DD has been in her own room since birth and it's right to the boy's room. She doesn't wake them up overnight at all. K never woke Joel up either when he was a bub and was in the room next to Joel. Kids can sleep through all that stuff!
Good luck, I hope the cot fits and you don't need to worry about anything else!
Hope the cot fits hun....what about just the cot matress on the floor? Ds1 slept ona matress for a little while...our room barely fits out bed in at the momet!
I dont think he will wake anyone up...We are all in one room at the moment and Ds1 is never woken by Ds2
I guess I'm paranoid about it cause when DS1 was born he did wake DD up.
I was hoping to keep him in our room till he started sleeping through...goodness knows when that will happen
Amber - Cot mattress wouldn't work, he's rolling too much already. He could quite easily roll off it.
The other thing is his bedroom gets quite hot whilst ours is at the back of the house off the lounge room where our a/c is so it's a lot easier to cool our room than his.
I'm going to measure it up today, DH keeps insisting it won't fit. I think he just wants me to put him in his own room cause he's under the illusion that will improve our..ahem...intimate relationship
The other option would be to move our computer desk out of our bedroom and put it in his room to make more space...which I would hate but he wouldn't be sleeping in there anyway.

I'd be moving the cot lol but that's just me.... Oskar slept in our room until he was 2 1/2 then decided he could sleep in his own room in his big boy bed and he's been there ever since. Elijah is now in the cot next to me.... I'm guessing though that he'll decide to "move out" earlier so he can sleep with his big bro.
Hun, if it were me I'd be trying really hard to move the cot, for all the reasons you've listed . I totally get where you're coming from, after all the sleep issues you've had with DS1 angel that he is . And the distance would be a deal breaker for me too.
Will moving him help your 'intimate' relationship? I know it wouldn't have helped mine, in fact DS's sleep was sooooo much worse when he went into his own room . Things were significantly less 'intimate' then . Will your DH change his mind if he knows that things won't necessarily be better? LOL, sorry!
