I guess I'm paranoid about it cause when DS1 was born he did wake DD up.

I was hoping to keep him in our room till he started sleeping through...goodness knows when that will happen

Amber - Cot mattress wouldn't work, he's rolling too much already. He could quite easily roll off it.

The other thing is his bedroom gets quite hot whilst ours is at the back of the house off the lounge room where our a/c is so it's a lot easier to cool our room than his.

I'm going to measure it up today, DH keeps insisting it won't fit. I think he just wants me to put him in his own room cause he's under the illusion that will improve our..ahem...intimate relationship

The other option would be to move our computer desk out of our bedroom and put it in his room to make more space...which I would hate but he wouldn't be sleeping in there anyway.

I'd be moving the cot lol but that's just me.... Oskar slept in our room until he was 2 1/2 then decided he could sleep in his own room in his big boy bed and he's been there ever since. Elijah is now in the cot next to me.... I'm guessing though that he'll decide to "move out" earlier so he can sleep with his big bro.

Hun, if it were me I'd be trying really hard to move the cot, for all the reasons you've listed . I totally get where you're coming from, after all the sleep issues you've had with DS1 angel that he is . And the distance would be a deal breaker for me too.

Will moving him help your 'intimate' relationship? I know it wouldn't have helped mine, in fact DS's sleep was sooooo much worse when he went into his own room . Things were significantly less 'intimate' then . Will your DH change his mind if he knows that things won't necessarily be better? LOL, sorry!

I'd do what ever you have to do to make that cot fit lol! Shift your bed against the wall...wardrobe...whatever...make it fit! I have loved having A in our room...just hearing her little noises and breathing is so comforting for a stress head like me! Seriously though...my girlfriend had the same issue so they took the side off the cot and had it right up against her side of the bed if that makes sense? Worked for them...so hope it fits for you

we don't have a huge bedroom - but when it came to the point that DD needed to use her cot, we made it fit. means we have a small walkway now, and DH has a few issues getting to his tallboy - but it gives us comfort knowing she's there (esp seeing she is waking a lot at the moment!)

i'd make the effort to get him into your room - the last thing i would be trying, if you don't want to disturd your other DS, is to transition from bassinet to cot and from your room to another at the same time - you'll have more issues that way

we moved the drawers out of our room to fit the cot in. I didn't think it fair to move DS out just cause he is too big for the bassinette.

We have a bed for DD in there to, not that she sleeps in it though She always ends up in our bed.

So our room has beds and nothing else. And if we want intimate time, we use the spare room

    No more spare rooms here!

DD was in our room in her bassinette till 6 months then she moved into her cot in her bedroom which was next to ours. We lived in a unit then and could easily hear her during the night.

With DS1 he was in his own room and his cot by 8 weeks because he just slept better in there (as Janie said, we've had our fair share of sleeping issues with him) BUT we also moved in to the spare room next to him so I was very close by and felt comfortable with that....we stayed there for 10 months!

That's not an option this time, the spare room is DS2s room now.

I think we'll need to move my bedside table out (and put it where I have no idea!) but the cot should fit...we'll soon see!!

Janie - Figured you'd understand, thanks! L is such an awesome sleeper now that I don't want to do anything to rock the boat!
