i cant have much on the shelfs anymore because DD can reach it all and it all ends up on the floor LOL, but i used to have nappies, spare packets of wipes and some other little nick nacks.
hi all
one of the things on my 'to do' list is set up the chg table... so what exactly do I put on it (on the shelves etc). Let me know what's on yours.... thanks!
i cant have much on the shelfs anymore because DD can reach it all and it all ends up on the floor LOL, but i used to have nappies, spare packets of wipes and some other little nick nacks.
Nappies, wipes and that's about it. I have stuff like nappy cream and cotton buds handy, but I don't use them all the time so they are packed away (our change table is actually a desk so alot of the other "nappy change stuff" is in the drawers.
Really, bubs don't need that much, and IMO cotton balls are a waste of time (I bought a pack of 100 - I think I used 5 since Flynn was born.....)
OOOOH how excitingsetting up is so much fun!
ETA: good comment from Blanche - lots of stuff in bubs room will be moved as soon as bubs can crawl, cause all that nicely arranged stuff on the lower shelves will soon get messed with![]()
I keep a few cloth nappies on there for wiping up any little mishaps - also good for drying off little bottoms because sometimes the baby wipes are quite damp.
nappies, wipes, nappy sacks, nappy cream, moisturiser, baby cotton buds, change of clothes
nothing now! LOL.. nappies & wipes are kept in the cupboard coz he'd only pull it all out like Blanchie said.
But when he was newborn, I had the nappies stacked up underneath, a few jumpsuits and things for night time changes (he was notorious for weeing everywhere once his nappy came off LOL).. umm... wipes... and that's it! He never had nappy rash, so I didn't really have creams or anythign on hand. I did keep a moisturiser there for a bit through winter coz his skin gets dry, but that's it. I always lay him down on a flat nappy too, coz I figured the plastic would be cold! and it was good for catching those stray wees too (if I was quick hehehe)
thanks for the replies! it makes me feel better as i keep going to set it up and thinking 'what would i really need there??' - thought i was mising something.
I have a little pile of cloth nappies for spills, lining the chg mat so it isnt cold etc, a stack of nappies ready to go, apacket of wipes, sacks for nappies to be kept in before we throw out and I will put nappy rash cream too when i buy it. a few chgs of clothes a good idea too for nights, they are all in the cupboard now but i can imagine in the night good to have them right there. thanks all...
We have a small, rectangle basket at the end which holds less used things like creams, small spare powder, spare nappy sacks, a spare dummy etc.
On the change table, we have wipes and we have little muslins, that we've made special to fit the change table, and in the side storage, we have powders etc.
Underneath on the 1st shelf we have around 20 nappies, 2 spare outfits, nappy sacks, a few bibs and thats about it.
On the bottom shelf, we have all the nappies stacked up, as well as some muslins
We just have the open box of nappies, wipes, a light for night time changes, bum cream, some spare clothes, a cloth nappy/towel.
Antiseptic hand gel! great when you cant get to wash your hands straight away
....great idea....third baby due and hadnt yet thought of that one !!! Thanks !Antiseptic hand gel!
aah the hand gel a fab idea - better add that to the list!
Nappies, wipes, slippers / shoes, socks, PJ's, creams and bibs.
The next time I'm setting up a change table, I'll be getting a high shelf put up near it. I can't currently put anything on the shelves thanks to madame destructo.
I have the basket like Lisa, makes whipping out of reach easier lol.
I forgot to mention that I have the hand gel too, in one of the side compartments.
Hi pregpan,
how exciting it's almost time for you to use the change table.
I have a wooden change table with 2 shelves.
I bought four baskets from the reject shop, and I have some odds and sods in one bibs and face washers in another then the front 2 contain nappies and then the nappy sacks, creams etc, and also a few wraps. Basically I set it up and then changed it all once I started using it and put the things you need to get to in the middle of the night under there so I didn't have to move xavier around too much while I got stuff.
One other thing I would highly recommend are those makeup removal pads the little round ones, just home brand instead of cotton balls, they work better on both faces and bums. We mainly use them to wipe his bum 'cause we had to stop using wipes for a while.
on the bottom I keep packets of unopened nappies and some giant towels I put on the change mat so it's not cold. 2 of them are burnt orange a great colour to camouflage bf baby poo too. iykwim
my change table is quite big, and my sister bought me a Lionheart Nappy Depot (from toys r us) which holds nappies, wipes on top in the box, and has separate compartments on the sides for creams, cotton buds etc.
My change table has a bath in it, so I also keep my bath things in the change table. In the top pockets I have a big pump pack full of water (I use this to squirt onto little flannels for cleaning baby's bottom instead of using wipes), sanitising hand gel, nappy rash cream, sorbolene cream (sometimes put this on the wipes as well, if it's a particularly sticky poo), hair brush, cotton tips, nail scissors, other stuff that I have but don't use very often, including baby oil and colic relief massage oil.
The second shelf has three compartments- one has baby wipes in it, and cotton wool balls- I use these if I've run out of flannels for wiping. It also has disposable breast pads and my cloth breast pads facing the other side, as my chair for night breastfeeds is next to the change table. I also have a cloth nappy for wiping up when feeding in this section. The middles section has baby bath bubbles and baby soap (not yet used!), as well as the stacks of flannels for wiping up. The back section has bath towels and bath flannels, and I keep my dirty cloth breast pads in a bag in this section, to chuck into the next wash.
The bottom section has disposable and cloth nappies all stacked up.
I also use a cloth nappy on top of the change table to mop up messes and keep baby's bum from getting cold.
