There is no perfect gap for everyone.
For us, 2 years is what we have between each of our boys, and it works really well for us.
Goodluck in deciding what gap will suit you.
I read somewhere that it takes around 18 months for your body to fully recover from the previous pregnancy/birth, but I really think that whenever you are ready it will be the right time! All the best!
for DH and I we'll have 16(ish) months between our bubs. on my part i want to have babies close together so i can 'get my body back' as apposed to getting to a point im happy with (IE stretch marks, sleepless nights ect) and then have to go though it all again. for my DH its age, he's 10 years older then i am and his 'cut off' for babies is 35 (so i'd be 25) so if we want three kids (if this bub is a girl we'll stop there) we kind of need the close age gap. that and DH and I wanted our kids to be close (3yrs between him and his brother and 2.3 between my sister and i) because we feel that they'll have a better bond (in theory ) in the long run.
