When to pierce my baby girl ears???

Ok i'd like to get my baby girls ears peirced while she's young... I have been told its much better to get them done early as they dont pull or tug on them...

My DP would prefer me wait till she's older like at least 12 months.

Just wondering what everyone else had done... If so what age??? 3, 6, 12 months what is the norm??

well i remember that mum didnt get mine done until i was about 4 (just before school). I personally dont think it looks that nice on a bub too young. but thats my opinion, its up to you.

Getting my ears pierced was a right of pasage growing up. I can remember begging my Mum to allow me to get them done. I think I was 10 yrs when I was allowed, but i needed to take care them.

I had DD's done when she was about 6mths. She never touched them, they were easy to care for at that age and they never got infected and now she has no idea that they're even there really. She doesn't take any notice of them.

I got mine at 5 years old....and have decided to let my DD's choose if they wont them done...im a bit like Hollye on this one.

While it looks cute....i would rather my kids decide if they want piercings in their body!

Not a bad way to approach it IMO. It can reinforce and teach your child that she has right to choose how she wants to decorate her body if at all. Also if she knows it will hurt, may get infected but still wants to do it, then she has made that choice with facts provided.

In my family of 3 girls, my middle sister chose to have it done at 11, I chose at 16 and my baby sister chose to never have her ears pierced.

i had my dd done at 4months... was simple and im so happy that i got them done then rather then now as older kids generally get infections when it is healing bcuz they r continually touch etc.... she is so cute with gold sleepers gorgeous!

Same with me,My sister had to wait until she was 13 but I think I was 11.I personally don't have a problem with people who do it young.Whatever feels right to you.

Can I please ask that people be respectful of the Original Poster given that she didn't really ask for opinions against it, just for those who have had babies done when they did it.

The back of my cousins DD ears had a flat soft round-shaped plastic end instead of a metal one, if thats what you mean?
She got them at the chemist, and went to the hairdresser for the actual peircing...

I personally would never do anything like that to my baby, but thats me.
..i tend to agree....but hey, its your choice, and back to your question, i know my sister had a bit of trouble getting anyone to pierce her DD ears when she was 3....so i think it will depend on whom you go to as well.

I don't believe in babies getting their ears pierced either. They should be able to have a say in if they want it done or not.....

I had to wait til i was 13yrs old before Mum would let me get it done!!

Skye, some boys still get their ears done, personally i think that it looks awful on a small boy (sorry if anyone on here has a baby BOY with piercing) ... these kids love theirs but i dont think that they would have asked to have it done....
None of DSS (10yrs) have pieced ears, i dont think that its the norm at all.

I always figured I would get dd's done the day she gets her first period for something really special.
You know, day off school, movie, girlie day type thing.
It's something I'm really looking forward to, actually.

OoooOooOoo you've just waved a red flag.

A lot of people believe its torture to pierce a babies ears. I personally don't but a lot of people do.

We did our DD at 18 months and she was fine, I was done at 6 months. It really does depend on the parents.
