Don't feel bad, if anything, I think you're a good mum for recognising that your son was tired and needed sleep.

Why are you upset? Please don't think that was an off the cuff remark. Are you worried what others will think? How long he will have a dummy for? Dummy removal when the time comes?

I too had issues with all these things. In hospital, the MW asked me if I had a dummy, "No son of mine will have one of those things" I replied. That was Day 3. Day 7 we get home and I caved. Best thing I ever did! It allowed my son to settle without me always being there. He had one until he was 10 months.

Also, at 4 months I was still rocking my son to sleep too.....they grow out of it. Just enjoy the cuddles for now. You're doing great hun.
