    Question Why fight it?

Could someone please explain to me why babies fight sleep?

Daniel sleeps very well at night (8pm to 6am) however, during the day he fights the inevitable. He eventually gets to sleep, after much rocking and hugging and has a twenty minute "brain switch off".

I certainly don't fight it. Just wondering why babies do. Is it because they'll miss all the exciting things going on? Does Daniel think I party on down when he asleep???

"Shhhh, Jason, don't let Daniel hear you playing with his Fisher Price toys!!"

LOL.. i always joke Chelsea wont sleep cos she is afraid she will miss out on something during the day as well....cos night time she sleeps like an angel (10-14 hours). How ever yesterday we managed a 3 hour sleep..normally dont get more then 20-60 mins...2-3 times a day (if im reallllly lucky)!!

Ashleigh used to be exactly the same. She would only sleep during the day if she was sooo tired out and rocked or fed or something. I used to wonder why fight it, it was obvious she was tired yet would try her hardest not to sleep! Thank god she has improved.

I don't necessarily think its fighting sleep, moreso they sometimes don't know how to get to sleep. Its like now I'm here what do you expect me to do. I personally am *exactly* the same. I find it very difficult to go to sleep. Whereas my 5 yr old says to me "mummy you don't *go* to sleep you *fall* asleep silly." She then tells me what she does whilst she's waiting to fall asleep. So its all about settling techniques and each baby needs different types, some rely on their parents, or a pacifier or they might be lucky enough to have self settling techniques like my kids. They get there eventually Although I can remember struggling with falling sleep right up until my teens... strange huh?

    *hugs*
