Word Explosion at 2! I never would have believed it if I had not seen it myself...

    Hi,

Just wanted to say I am an Early Childhood Teacher, mummy to 1 and pregnant again. So you would think I would know and believe these things!

Everytime we go to the paed - which is often since my DD still has reflux he asks how her language development is going so I have been keeping track of new words. I knew she wasn't behind but also knew she def wasn't ahead either in her expressive language and as my dd was slow to crawl, walk etc due to low muscle tone I have always felt a bit sad when the other mums are gushing about what their babies are doing at mums grp. Now I know children all develop at different rates but if anyone has been in my place they will know how it can feel.

I have been told by lots of people that their chn had word explosion at 2 - well my dd turned 2 last friday and what do you know - today she said so many new words and copied lots of words I have said - I havent even been able to keep track and write them all down today!!!

So excited and happy for my beautiful girl - can't wait to have more oral communication with her.

    Just wanted to share!!!

    Hooray!

My DS was quite similar, about two weeks after his second birthday he just started speaking in multi word "sentences" and hasn't stopped since Enjoy!!!
