I wrapped my DD until she was 13 months old. I figured she would let me know when she didnt want it anymore. One night she tried busting out of it and this went on for a couple of nights. I was worried I wouldnt get her to sleep if I didn't wrap her. Anyway, I stopped wrapping her and she has been sleeping well ever since.
I didnt use any special wrap either....I just wrapped her in a light blanket...maybe try that?
DD was about the same age as Delph's DD when she wouldn't stay wrapped and would fight against it or wake up completely unwrapped. I had some of the 120x120 muslin wraps for her. She wasn't much of a roller and when she kept busting out we decided we'd go cold turkey and that was it. Mind you she is not a great sleeper, something happened around her 1st birthday and she has not slept through since then but thats another topic
I've had 3 different experiences - DD1 stopped at 3 mths, DD2 at 9 mths, and DD3 at about 14 mths. i don't think there's a rule saying that any age is too old, just what your baby needs.
I started using a single bed sheet instead of a wrap and then bought some stretchy muslin from Spotlight about 2m by 1.5m to wrap the older baby. I wish i could wrap her now as she may sleep better, but it's too late to go back! (she's 19mths).....
