Question Your babies eye colour and changes?

What age did your babies eyes change color? Did the whole iris gradually change or did it happen in patches?

DS has blue eyes but there is a very small patch on one of his eyes which looks like it's turning green. Both dh and I have green eyes so I wont be surprised if DS ends up with green but I thought they would gradually change all over, not in patches

DS and DD1 both still have blue eyes - always did and I'm guessing they always will. DS's have changed in that they are much lighter than they were but they are still blue.

DD2 on the other hand.. hmm.. well hers change almost weekly. They are a bit hazel, and a bit more green than any other colour - so I'm guessing hers will go green, but the colour is patchy - like there are splotches of brown, and then some shades of green and some shades of grey - and she's nearly 14 months? So I'm guessing by the time she is 2 it might have settled down to being the colour that she will have for the rest of her life.

DH has blue eyes and I have green, so I'm hoping to get one green eyed baby!!

ds1 has been my brown eyed boy ever since I can remember.

ds2... well his eyes are kinda strange, they're kinda grey! He's now 8.5mts and they kinda have brown/green flecks in the centre, kinda bluey/grey on the outside but if you look straight on they just look grey.

My boys changed gradually. DS1 was born with really dark eyes, almost black, he is now a stunning blue. He was born with his eyes open and then I didn't see them again until he was 2-3 weeks old and they had started going blue then. DS2 was born with dark greyish colour eyes and his are now brown at 19 months.

DD was born with dark blue eyes that have gradually turned brown. If the light is right, I can still see some patches of blue, but her eyes have always been dark so it took a while for the change to be obvious.

I think it's around 12 months when eye colour can be determined. If they go brown, they tend to stay brown. But any other colour can change again in the first year.

I was told it could change up to 2years old.

Ds1 has brown eyes that were hazel til 6 months and then got darker.

Ds2 has blue eyes like me and the mcgn said at his second appt there's no way they are getting darker and they havent. But they were only ever getting lighter from day 1

DS1 had grey eyes at birth, as the months went by they went dark green, hazel and then were brown by 6 months i think?
DS2 on the other hand, well he had bright blue eyes from day one, only one eye had a brown patch that took up about a quater of one eye, they still loked like that at 20 months, but they started to change after his 2nd birthday, they were green for a bit and now they are a hazel/green, wich df finds odd as he & i both have brown eyes!
DD started out with realy dark eyes that were almost black, arround 4 months they started to lighten and are now brown.

Charlotte took about 14 months I think to get to dark brown.
She was born with grey/blue eyes, then they went green like mine for ages, I thought they were done. Then all of a sudden seemingly overnight, they were brown! lol
Someone else actually noticed and made a comment about her eyes being such dark brown, I laughed at them and thought they were colour blind. Then when I actually looked they were in fact brown! I swear the day before they were green...

Anyway, they went through a few stages, and shades, and took over a year to settle.

I find it all so facinating! it's the next thing to guess about with bub really as once you know gender and hair color it's kinda the next thing lol We don't really mind if they stay blue or go green but it's just cool to see the change happening. As I said I always thought the whole iris would gradually change all at once not in patches so that groovy to see

DD's have remained constantly electric blue, but DS' (who will be 2 at the end of Feb) have only just started to change from grey to green.
ETA I have a girlfriend with one blue and one brown eye.....that's quite neat to look at.

So far, we've been the brightest of blues and haven't changed. Im thinking they will always be the same colour as daddy's (and boy is he happy!!)

DS eyes were blue when born but have since changed to green, I it was gradual and an all over change. DD's are blue, very blue and are still blue.

I have blue eyes but DH are either hazel or green even sometimes more brown, they change a lot.

DD1 has always had brilliant blue eyes.

DD2 had blue eyes when she was born and about 6 months or so ago they turned a hazel-brown colour.

Z&A - very basic version; if one of your kids has blue or green eyes it's most likely that you and your DH have 1 allele for blue eyes and one for brown on the gene for eye colour.
You get one from each parent so your children get either a brown one or a blue one from you.
Two blue is normally blue eyes but could b green
Either 1 of each, or two brown will b brown eyes
