DD2 had a Jemima doll which she had to take everywhere. One day someone at creche told her she couldn't have it there and took it off her, she was devastated. I had to have a chat with that worker.

I used to have a pillowcase as a comforter when i was a kid.

We gave DS a teddy etc but he's never needed a comforter.

But I do.. I've had a bolster since I was a baby and it has gone through many reincarnations. Until today, at 36, I need a bolster/pillow to sleep with, and I need to have it between my legs or I have a very restless night. That's why I hate hotels/other accommodations as they never give me enough pillows!

DD never used to have one until about a year ago when we went on a very long road trip and i swathed her in her ring sling when we were driving at night to cut out any drafts. since then, its effect on her is immediate whenever she is cranky and overtired. she goes instantly mellow and zones out LOL! We only use it in the car or in the pram. luckily she doesnt need it for bed.

Ds has his precious 'dodie'- his dummy. But mean mummy here only allows him to have it when he's sleeping, sick or really really tired- and then he has one in each hand and one in his mouth.

So it's a good thing he's got his Humpty- a small one the same as on Playschool- who he loves too. It doesn't leave the house except to go to daycare or the doctors, or sleepovers at Nanna's.
