Your Little Girl's Hair

My DD has soooooooooooooo much hair, it is thick and quite curly, she is 3 1/2 and has had about 6 or 7 hair cuts already. I actually have to get it layered to stop all the ends tangling together. I would like to get it cut short, but she has a double crown and her fringe grows forwards, so to make it work, I am pretty sure it would end up looking like a mullet.
Good luck with the hair cut, it usually does wonders for thicker hair.

I wish haircuts were an issue for us!!! Miss J had hardly any hair still at 18 months!! Probably a good thing coming into a hot summer though!

We're the same! DD's is barely there on top, although she has the start of a mullett! I was thinking I might get it cut nevertheless - mainly to neaten it up a bit and also in the hope that it might encourage it to grow thicker!

yes i am SO GLAD i got her hair cut, it looks 100% better, and really suits her.... everyone is commenting on how great her hair looks, and i only have to spend literally 10 seconds on it every day...

Emma - Glad that you are so happy with the decision to get her hair cut. I think it would have been a hard one to make.

Hair has always been an issue for us. My DD1 was born with so much hair. She had her first haircut before she was 3 months old. I have found that having fringes can be problematic if your baby/toddler doesn't like haircuts (we had to get DD1's fringe cut in her first hair cut because it was so long she would suck it into her mouth when she as feeding and it was always in the way). Fringes tend to be a lot of maintenance as they can grow really really fast. My DD1 needed hers cut every 4 weeks. By the time she was 1yo, I gave up and have just let it grow out. She now has really long hair. We have always had to do something with her hair so she is used to having it brushed and tied or clipped. It is quite thick now and easy to style. When it was finer it was a lot more difficult. It is often messy though and I think that is just toddlers really. DD got my awful hair - it is kind of curly but it would be worse if it was shorter and she has a cow lick in the front which makes it hard for it to sit properly when it is shorter too.

Aww, lol I was going to jump in and scream 'NOOOOO, DON'T DO IT!!!' because I recently got DD1's first haircut (she's 2 and a bit) and I freaking HATE it. It just doesn't look like my little girl any more, I cannot WAIT until it grows back and hopefully one day she can forgive me (or rather, I can forgive myself, she doesn't know any different and had fun at the hairdresser's lol) for making such a mess of it But your little girl's new hair looks lovely!! Well done (and can I have the name of your hairdresser?? hehe)

Never again My intention was always to keep the girls' hair as long as humanly possible, I just wanted her hair to look respectable when we went away on holidays (it had never been cut and so was ratty at the ends and she always had hair in her face), so I thought a longer bob and fringe would do the trick. Now my poor baby looks like a lobotomy survivor

My DD is nearly 2 1/2 and has short hair. I gave her a pixie cut a few months ago and plan to give her another one before Christmas. I think that little girls look really cute with short hair (if I had a boy, I grow his hair long - go figure). I am planning to keep DD's hair short until she goes to school (or insists on growing it long).
