Emma - Glad that you are so happy with the decision to get her hair cut. I think it would have been a hard one to make.
Hair has always been an issue for us. My DD1 was born with so much hair. She had her first haircut before she was 3 months old. I have found that having fringes can be problematic if your baby/toddler doesn't like haircuts (we had to get DD1's fringe cut in her first hair cut because it was so long she would suck it into her mouth when she as feeding and it was always in the way). Fringes tend to be a lot of maintenance as they can grow really really fast. My DD1 needed hers cut every 4 weeks. By the time she was 1yo, I gave up and have just let it grow out. She now has really long hair. We have always had to do something with her hair so she is used to having it brushed and tied or clipped. It is quite thick now and easy to style. When it was finer it was a lot more difficult. (Here is a photo of DD1 as a baby http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...d&id=533631828 - she is 11 wks in this photo, right before her first haircut and this was right after http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...6&id=533631828).
It is often messy though and I think that is just toddlers really. DD got my awful hair - it is kind of curly but it would be worse if it was shorter and she has a cow lick in the front which makes it hard for it to sit properly when it is shorter too.
Anyway, probably information that you don't want now that you have made your decision but thought I would put it in anyway
