For someone like me who STILL continues to waiver between yes and no as far as having a baby (its a self confidence thing with me at the moment....and the 'its for life' issue) i would LOVE to hear your top 5 moments.
You know the ones.
The ones that make your heart melt and you honestly believe the hard work, sleepless nights, stress and everything else all worth while.
Top 5 hey? That's tough.. way too many but I'll give it a go
1. Hearing them say "I love you" in their cute little toddler voices
2. Watching them come flying out the door when you get home from work and being totally swamped in little hugs and kisses
3. Seeing my 4 y old daughter approach a child who's being left out of the game at the park and involving them in what's going on.
4. Seeing how the really simple things excite and delight them... things like a pretty flower, a swim at the beach, a ride in the car
5. Having my 2 y o son sneak into our room each morning while it's still dark ( :-s ) and put his hand on my cheek and say "hello Mummy", when according to the specialists he was supposed to have died at birth.
1 - The moment after birth and the way your heart bursts with love. I have always said I never knew true love till I laid eye on my newborn baby for the first time.
2 - When they first say "I love you mummy" awwww
3 - Watching them achieve their first milestones and knowing you helped your child to reach that development of their life
4 - The home made presents and cards that come home from playgroup/daycare/kindy
5 - Still coming...... when they get married and have children of their own.
1) The first time he looked at me & smiled
2) Baby talk! Zander is just starting to make all the goo / gaa noises & it's sooo cute.
3) Seeing how excited Zander is to splash about in the bath.
4) When he's been crying with someone else holding him & the minute I have him in my arms he calms down (doesn't happen that often though!).
5) When he takes his reflux meds without screaming the house down - happened for the first time this morning!
Some of these are what others have said... but here goes.
1. The way he jumps, squeals and flaps his arms in excitement when his Daddy gets home from work.
2. Those sloppy open mouthed kisses.
3. When he is sleeping, he is so peaceful and beautiful, and it makes me love him so much that I want to wake him up to give him a cuddle . And when he falls asleep sitting up, it is the most gorgeous and funniest thing to see.
4. Having him sit in your lap while you read him a book, and he laughs at the pictures, and opens/lifts the flaps etc... its amazing how quicky they learn everything.
5. When the only way to calm him down from a nightmare in the middle of the night, is to lie him on my tummy and hold him... and to feel him cuddling up to me and calming down.
1. The first time they have the co-ordination to reach up and put their arms around your neck for a hug.
2. Morning snuggles in bed before breakfast with little fingers gently tracing your face
3. Discovering your child's special giftings and talents
4. Watching your husband totally lose himself in your baby's eyes and act like a fool because he is so in love he doesn't care who's watching
5. Baby smiling up at you and gurgling at bathtime.
1. when cait was born and they lifted her up and and she was screaming and nick said she was kicking her legs, I cried.
2. the night before my first mothers days when i put her to bed and watched her sleeping, I cried.
3. when she walked for the first time, no one ever told me your heart leaps into your mouth ! I didn't cry, though.
4. when i dropped her off on her first day of kinda, and she kissed me and ran off and sat with the other kids on the mat. I had to get out of there fast, cos I cried.
5. when she asks me every day if the baby is kicking yet.
So many beautiful moments but here are a few of my favourites...
1. My husband crying in the delivery room and the anaesthetist telling me that he is one of the best husbands she has seen in times of difficult births.
2. Sunday mornings - my 2 daughters and 2 cats jump in our "family" bed for bottles, cuddles and watching cartoons together. These are the best times I have EVER had in my life.
3. My 2yo telling me "my sister is my best friend in the world" (this one brought torrenst of tears)
4. The first kiss and cuddle
5. Realising that this is what life is all about. Seeing the wonder and amazement on their faces when they show you a butterfly and you think isn't the world just a great, beautiful place to be!
There are so so many unbeatable moments that I am struggling to pinpoint my favourites, but here goes:
~ When I go into her room and she peers through the cot bars and giggles and jumps up and down
~ When she leaps into my arms for no reason and says "More kiss"
~ When I listen to her and DH in the evenings singing "Old Macdonald had a Bath, Ee-I-ee-I-O" when they are doing bathtime
~ When we have our last cuddle of the day & she strokes me on the arm and pats my shoulders with her pudgy little hands
~ When we are driving in the car and I flip the mirror to check on her in the back seat and she grins at me and blows me kisses and laughs
~ When she is totally self absorbed and busy in her play, talking to herself, & I can just watch her
