Question 16m old waking up screaming - help!

Tristan keeps waking during the night screaming and NOTHING I do helps. Some nights I just put him in with us and he's asleep before I lay down next to him, others like tonight... DP and I are tag teaming holding him while he screams, coughs and almost chokes I don't know what's wrong

He's had a drink, has a clean nappy, appears to be otherwise well just screaming him head off

    Any suggestions?

    Gosh

Too hot? Too cold? bad dream? Just wants a cuddle?

Pip went through a stage where we'd give him tummy massages and he'd release gas and then settle. It's so hard

Doesn't want to be held and feels about the right temp Could be a dream I suppose... He's been doing it for 2-3 months 1-2 times a week. He screams for hours. He does wake at least once a night, but mostly settles into our bed very easily.

    Thanks

night horrors? Is it about the same time every night? Can he converse with you?

My two have both had/done it. DD finished after 3 years and DS has started.

Not night terrors, Brendan gets those He's definitely awake, he sits up and reaches up for me when I get to his cot.

I thought maybe a bad dream, but then wouldn't he stop screaming once I comforted him?

OMG I am so glad I am not the only one who has a 16 month old who does this! We are so sleep deprived and have no idea why she does it...she screams and screams...it's heartbreaking.

Sorry I can't help. I have been stumped by Palmer doing it, just have no idea. :-(
