WE used ours when bubs was in our room but without the sound bit on. Just put the movement bit on and that way if no movement was censored the alarm still went off but obviously we didn't need the actual sound monitor cos we were in the same room.

Lots of people thought it was a bit over the top but it helped me sleep and with a new baby, that was all that was important!
