I have a fantastic Phillips model, which is far and away better than the old one we had, and came up as one of the recommended models in the choice test. I got my cheap second hand over ebay and it hasn't skipped a beat, despite being dropped a few times. My friend has a cheaper version of the one we have and agrees it's the best out of many that they've had over the years.
I have two - a Tommee Tippee which is so bad for static and an Angelcare sound and motion, which is brilliant. The Angelcare you don't even know its on, whereas the TT one leaves you deciding if you want to turn it down so it doesn't keep you awake at night, or turn it up loud enough that you can actually hear your baby when she wakes up.
I have the angelcare one as well (I don't use the motion pads though as bub is in a hammock), but, I seem to always be turning it down due to the static. I had it given to me so I am thinking of going and buying a different one myself.
My SIL has one too (she uses the motion pads) and hers has static too, but not as loud as mine.
We have digital mobile phones that we set up on room monitor. there is no static at all.
I do have a baby monitor but I go sick of getting up to the neighbours baby.. (each channel, I got another bub as well as ours), and the static was horrendous.
Yep, Angelcare all the way - with the sound activation feature we only ever hear it when the baby makes a noise. We do leave the movement 'ticker' on though which I can sleep through but which reassures me whenever I wake up at night!
