That statement is largely incorrect. The varicella vaccine has been available for LESS than 10 years and has only been free/recommended since May 1, 2004, so there is a large proportion of the population who is unvaccinated against it. So it is probably jumping the gun a little to say that. Which means that chicken pox is still very prevalent and that is why I suggested that a person do their own risk assessment for it. It has nothing at all to do with it not being in an area, but waht sort of exposure you might out yourself in - such as a childcare centre of a school kwim?Just remember that informed decision is a two way street
