Mel apparently a baby has died from over use of these medications. It's the antihistamean (spelling?) as this puts them to sleep.
BUT, I use it sparingly on both my boys and it's be great. I would highly recomend fess nasal drops 3 times a day. I know they fight it, but if the nose is really running, it really gets the stuff out.
The medication would be great for his ears to help dry it out.
As he is only 6 months I would buy the infant drops and stock up on it. I get the 2yr plus as they don't sell the infant drops around here anymore and just half the dose as my younger son is over 1 now, but I only do this as a last resort, and mainly fess him as much as I can to help him breath.
Good luck, it does pass and the vaporiser seems to work wonders.
I haven't been able to get the infant drops for months, even with a prescription. Apparently there have been a couple of deaths, but they have occured in the US after parent's overdosed their children. (this is what the pharmasist told me).
