DD2 was given Heb B at 6 months (ok more like 9 months when i got around to doing it). Today she had her 12 months (at 13.5 months) and she was given Heb B again....
Is there any problems with her having the extra dose....so now she has had it at Birth, 2, 4, 6 and 12 months.
I can't answer sorry Kim, but how sloppy! They're supposed to write everything down in her red (or whatever colour) book... I'd be ringing and complaining to the practice manager, that is so not on!
i thought hmm maybe ill check to make sure she did have it at the last lot online...and she def did..and the online thing doesnt even say she needed it.
The thing is, the practice has new vaccines where the Heb B is combined with other drugs...making the 12 month lot only 2 needles not 3.....
But in her Blue bok it doesnt state anything about her having Heb B and thats prob cos its in a combined one at 6 months now.
I feel so bad for my poor baby having an extra needle she didnt need to have. DH didnt even know she got Heb B today until he told me she got 3 needles and thats when i thought WTF....and looked at what she was given
Hi Kimbaz
Your baby will be fine. You would need a massive injection for it to do any harm.
I have done a bit of research and the only reports of adverse effects from having a double dose is pain at the injection site.
When DS2 got his, I mistook what they said as being Hep B but they corrected me by telling me it was HiB... I just misheard them
Apparently it is a common thing to misunderstand/mishear.
Hi Kimbaz
I suggest that you enter the dates that she had the Hep B in your blue book. Someone may question it but better that than having more needles than she needs.
Another option would be to put the dates on a piece of paper and clip this to the relevant page in the blue book
Good idea Alan...i was thinking of also putting her immunisation record that they send out now and then in the book too...that way it clearly shows what she has/hasnt had
