Lisylee I think all babies do things at different ages. Try not to worry hun! I bet when he does laugh it will be a real belly laugh! My son doesnt laugh all the time, but he is a big smiler, he only really laughs if i tickle him, i know i am mean lol!

    Good luck xx

Isabell only laughs if we pretend to munch on her tummy, also if daddy does this "Boo" or surprised expression, she will giggle then shy away from him. Its cute...
But yes, Isabell has to be really happy/excited to giggle and laugh a lot. She started at around the 12w mark...and it wasnt as obvious as it is now, it was pretty much like a 'cough' but only when she was really happy and smiley she would do it, and she then did it more and more, then it became a more pronounced laugh.

DS didnt laugh until he was about 8 months. He was very smiley and would open his mouth wide like he was laughing, but never sound came out. Now its all he does do!

DS was about 5 months but we really had to work hard for the laughs for quite some time afterwards! It wasn't a case of once we got a laugh they just kept coming. For quite a while we could feel the tummy muscles laughing but with no sound coming out.

I noticed that your bubs was born 8 1/2 weeks early - this doesn't always mean anything but maybe he's a little behind because of that. According to the books, my DD has done some things early, some things on time and somethings VERY late .ie. she's 12 months and sitll no proper crawling or eating!

Anyway I guess what I am saying is that they all do things differently and I'm really learning to deal with that. My DD seems to pick up emotional, academic type things quickly but slow on physical things like rolling and crawling. I have def chilled in last few weeks but I stil worried, especially after mums' group!! I found that I worried more at diff times and other times I was rational and realised that all babies are diff and are fine.

Enjoy your baby and he will do things when HE wants to - they always seem to!!

    Hi Lisylee,

Yippee for you and well done Hunter

DD took a fair while before she really smiled and laughed but its an amazing feeling when they finally do let out a chuckle isn't it??
