We went to Tresillian at Nepean when DS was 8mths old. He wouldn't have naps, wouldn't sleep for longer than 40mins at a time, wouldn't go to sleep without being breastfed THEN woke up every time I took him off it, it was exhausting.
Tresillian helped us so much. The 2 days prior to getting to Tresillian Elliott had been sleeping really well and I considered not going. We got there and he was a NIGHTMARE, screaming his head off and desperately unhappy. So then of course, I was in tears as well, and deeply regretting my decision to come along. I was really negative, miserable and cranky. Eventually though, Elliott calmed down and got into the rhythm of things, and within days what took hours only took minutes. We ended up staying for a little over 5 days so my DH could have a go at settling too. We started wrapping him there - which I thought he was over but it really helped so maybe give that a go?
Of course, 3 days after we came home Elliott came down with some gastro virus which had me cradling him to sleep in the hospital and thinking "No!! All of our routine, GONE!" but it only took two days to get him back into it.
Now he's normally a brilliant sleeper with one 1.5/2hr nap a day, and sleeps from 7pm to 7am.
So I say try it. It's always worth having a shot, and I didn't feel pressured to take everything they said as gospel.
