Help needed - practical and useful gift for 2nd baby

    Hello,
Not sure if this is the right place to post or not, but I'll give it a go.

My SIL is pg with her 2nd - due early Jan. With the first (now 2 1/2) we bought them a nappy bag, well before the birth to help with their set up - we wanted to get them something that they needed, was relativly expensive (to help them save some money), but practical so we could help them out.

So my question is, what is there that is practical and useful that parents need for the second? I'm sure that in the end I'll have to ask SIL, but I would like some ideas so I dont look like a total dill!

    Any advice much appreciated.
    Thanks
    FG

What about consumables like nappies, wipes, lotions etc?

For each of my bubs, I always get them there own toy as well as a bath towel and blanket that is their own. So once they are grown I'll keep them as a keep sake.

Also a nice keep sake is a nice silver/pewter frame that can have all the details engraved in it.

    HTH.

Paying for a cleaner would be a great help with 2 to look after. Even 2 hours per week for 4 weeks makes a huge difference. Check out this thread as it lists what people are buying for the 2nd bub, it may be of some help:

Yep if someone got me a cleaner for the first month I'd have broken down with tears of joy! Also nappies etc all those consumables that get expensive. Chocolate or a day spa/massage for mum?

If I had a second I reckon I'd like new bibs. I'd also be wanting nappies, wipes & disposal bags. Another idea would be a baby momento book as I think a lot of people buy them for a first baby but not for a second.

I know I've only got the one, but I have seen from my friends of more than one, that taking the elder child out for an afternoon of fun (movies/park/etc) is a great help to both parents and the child. The parents get a break and some alone time to bond with their baby, and the older child can have some attention that is focused solely on them for a while, which may have been lacking since their new sibling arrived. HTH!

Hello - thanks for the replies - they have helped alot as I would never thought of nappies (or the other stuff - although I'm sure it is pretty obvious to everyone else!).

    Thanks again
