It is soooo incredibly hard when they are vomiting it. You can position them so that they can't spit it out, but vomiting is something different altogether.
I would keep trying (but at the right intervals as you can't be sure if she's getting anything into her or not) and take her back to the docs if you're still struggling.
Try to make sure you keep things light each time you give it. You have to give the impression you are ok with everything, even if you're finding it hard. Phoebe was on ABs for a while with her pneumonia and the first doses were a huge struggle (we had to hold her reclined until she swallowed and she would normally make choking noises. Very scary and horrible) but we tried very hard to speak soothingly to her, to always shower her with attention and affection after each dose. She was infinitely better by the last dose, even opening her mouth and taking the medicine without a struggle.
