Because I researched my choices and made an informed decision that myself and my partner are happy with.

If they vaccinate why should they worry their children will get it? There has been plenty of outbreaks from vaccinated kids to make that argument null and void.
    Exactly the stance I take.

If they are clearly ignorant I don't bother explaining but rebut with "you don't need to worry since YOUR child is vaccinated"

If your not vaccinating on that kind of information PLEASE do some more research and PLEASE PLEASE never say that to another parent.

RockingSAHD you have made your position on vaccination very clear on BB in many different threads. Kelly has already said that this thread should not be turned into a debate. If you don't have a positive answer to my original post please keep your opinion to yourself. I have asked for opinions of 'like minded' parents who no doubt have a very different belief system to you.

    Angry

You can't be serious! Your going to get my opinion now...

This post has made me so mad and there are a lot of things I could say regarding my opinion but have you actually read my posts in this thread? I have contributed positively to this thread and have not advocated my opinion.

Do you realise that I am trying to create a dialogue here and dispel some ignorance for the safety of all of our children?

There ARE good reasons not to vaccinate, but if your going to make a major decision on the life of your child some of the rubbish on this forum is not nearly good enough. Comments like the one above are dangerous, like driving a car for the first time ever in heavy traffic or investing your life savings with someone who knocks on your door.

I'm very much against people vaccinating without knowing the risks also.

People are going to complain that I'm flaming, trolling, talking down to people. Get some perspectve! Do some homework, this is a serious issue! If I was on here claiming that caesarian was safer than natural birth I would be talked down to, wouldn't I?

Can you see in this post where I've been pro-vax? Would you like to point that out? Please do, I'd like to see where i'm spouting propoganda about my 'belief' system which is so different to yours. Maybe that's a belief system about keeping my child safe? Not so different from yours perhaps?

(PS I advocate natural birth above c-section)

I never said this is the reason we don't vaccinate. In fact, I believe I've put up pub med links supporting our reasons to NOT vax. It's been made after my DH and I researched EVERY side to this

You perhaps missed my sarcasm in my post (easy done especially if you haven't encountered me before)

This is a response I tend to give people who have the ignorant view that ONLY unvaccinated people spread vaccine preventable diseases - and it's said in a very obviously sarcastic tone.

I resent being told my children and the reasons that others get sick - just because we don't vaccinate.

Cherished - you are a lovely person and any MG that didn't take you are you are would be missing out.

Rocking - the thread is not about vaccinating or not vaccinating - it is about expressing your views in a non-inflammatory way to people who may share a different view point e.g. as often happens at mothers group. Cherished has done her research and made her decision. She is asking for advice on discussing it, not whether to do it or not.

I missed the sarcasm in your post, perhaps you could've been clearer and perhaps Cherished1 wouldnt've seen the need to bite my head off if she saw the inherent sarcasm and my mistake. It doesn't change my post still, fighting ignorance with ignorance isn't helping anyone.

Krysalyss: Thanks for judging me without reading my posts or the context, I don't appreciate it!

I can't read any judgement of you in my words at all. Simply a statement of what the thread is about. And yes I did read your posts. Thanks.

    Okay......... Back on topic.

    What do I say?

I say that after considering the individual risks and benefits relative to our individual circumstances, I have decided that I can live with the fallout of being passive and not vaccinating, more than I could the high risk of fallout for us from the active action of vaccination.

LOL! In translation: I think you shouldn't vaccinate.

    No. No YOU. I said:

    There's no YOU in there.

RockinSAHD you have posted in this thread giving your opinion as a pro-vaxer. How can you answer my original post at all? As Onyx pointed out the title of the thread is "If you're not vaccinating, what do you tell people" I am not going to get into my reasons behind not vaccinating with you, they are based on 10 years of research and yes I have a different belief system to you and probably a completely different model of the world including how and why humans get diseases and illness in the first place. So please don't hijack this thread with you reference links or pro vaccination statements knowing darn well that everyone else posting in here is a non-vaxer at some level and is contributing with valid responses to my original question.

Mods I'd really just like this thread to be closed if that is at all possible. I've seen enough threads like this go down the gurgler just because some people feel like they must give their opinion even when it's not welcome or asked for.
