They can get them from a dose of hormones from you during labour, it can take a couple of weeks to clear up. But if bf they can also get what known as 'milk pimples' again this is from small doses of hormones delivered through the breastmilk. But if formula feeding this obviously wont be happening so it can be an infant form of eczema caused by a short term irriation from cows milk, changing brands may have results but generally it needs to be treated with topical creams if it persists. Also make sure you are using sensitive skin friendly products, stop using bath washes and just plain water, and no baby moisturises and switch to aqueous cream (this can be used in the bath as well). Paw paw ointment also work wonders.

You can get lucas paw paw ointment at most chemists, it either comes in a red tube or tub.

Hi,my little girl had this awful but it was in the end eczema on her face it was just on her cheeks and sort of where her eyebrows were really red and weird,i thought it was the hormone pimples but it was still there when she went onto formula, she is now 14 months and still has eczema but only on her legs, sad to say i tried everything from natural to not and in the end her face got soooo bad i took her to the doctors and she needed cortisone to clear it and then other creams worked,i found it was all trial and error some things worked and some didnt its the same now, hopefully its the hormone one then it will go,but i agree with the above post and any moisture try different things,i found medihoney helps and cetaphil very dry skin moisturiser but thats if its eczema and different things work for people hopefully it gets better you feel for the liitle mites!!

yep my bub had this and still does. It got infected so Dr told me to get Dermaid - over the counter at a chemist to get it under control - you only use a tiny amount for 2 days and then moisturise. It cleared within 1 week but is back now and I'm struggling to get it under control. I am trying Dermaveen but so far her face and neck are still red and spotty.

    Re: Newborn spots and irritation

If it is just the newborn spots and not looking inflamed they normally clear up on their own

Shell how long did they take to clear up? About a month? Did you end up doing anything or just let it run it's course? My lil one is covered in them on one side of her face and all around the back of her neck, and it's beginning to look quite inflamed. Doesn't seem to bother her - just me!
