Not babbling at 9 months help!

Hi my name is racheal and I am mummy to 9 month old twin boys frank and max. My problem is frank started babbling dadda around a month ago but max is yet to babble. Should I be worried? how late can babies start doing this? Is there anything i can do to encourage him?

    Cheers

Hey Zap.... my 12 month old DS is not much of a babbler.
Try and remember that all babies develop differently. Max may be sitting back watching, and come out with much more "intelligent" speech later, rather than begin babbling.
It might be worth a trip to your CHN, sometimes a lack of babble, or ill-sounding babble can mean a tongue tie, but they will also be able to assure you about his development.
    Good luck!!

Zap- All babies develope differently even twins. My DS was the grunting type. hardly spoke just made weird grunting noises til he was about 11 months then he started with dadda mumma but then he'd go quiet for a while. DD on the other hand has been a little chatter box. Lots of singing and sounds. I think if your concerned see your GP but he could just be a bit more shy with talking then Frank.

thanks girls! it is so hard with two at the same age cause I am always paronoid that I am giving one more time than the other. Max does tend to sneak up from behind so maybe he will do it with speech as well.

As the other mentioned, all babies develop differently.

Brendan is two on Wednesday and is still doing basic babble with only 2 real words.

They all get there in their own time.
