    Rolling over in cot

    Hi,

Not sure if this is in the right spot, but my 3.5 month DD has just started rolling over from back to tummy and also has started sleeping at night in her cot.
When she wakes in the morning and I go in to get her, the past couple of mornings, she has been rolled over.
I am extremely worried that she will hit her head on the side of the cot, get tangled in her blankets or something of the like.
What do others do to prevent this?

    Thanks,
    Emma

Once they start rolling it's tricky, we use lots of layers, a singlet, warm pyjamas and a sleeping bag so dd isn't tangled in blankets.

I agree with black_rose..we use the Snugtime sleep suits and gro bags and long sleeve onesies. No bedding at all except a bottom cot sheet.
I am not sure there is much you can do with rolling over onto the tummy...you could check before you go to bed to see where she is and try and roll her back over, although she may just pefer to sleep on her tummy, alot of babies do.
I know of those things you put into the cots that prevent them from rolling..can't thing of what it is called. It's flat in the middle where you lay them and has anti rolling sides to prevent the rolling. Not sure if they work.

I second the sleeping bags, we haven't looked back since i first started putting DD in them! She only has the fitted cot sheet now.
If you're worried about them bumping their head on the side of the cot, we have an Airwrap cot bumper (got it from Big W) which will protect their heads somewhat, and stops them getting their arms/legs stuck outside the cot. It's like a cot bumper but is quite thin and is made from breathable material so unlike a cot bumper they can't suffocate against it. I love ours! Once they start standing they also can't stand on it as it just squashes down.

When they start rolling onto their stomachs there is nothing much u can do its just part of growing up. My DS used to do it in his sleep then wake up so it was a pain but they do get better at it and manage. My DS is 13mnths now and rolls onto his stomach to sleep there's nothing to be done but try not to stress about it

We don't use blankets, DD2 won't keep them on anyway, we just dress her warmly. And we use the Airwrap bumper like SS Storm, not so much to protect her head - as Feeb said it won't hit hard enough to do any damage - but because she was getting her arms & legs stuck out the bars.

DS1 didnt roll back to front till 8 months and DS2 not rolling at all yet.

But DS1 was in a grobag from 9 weeks so couldnt get tangled in blankets. They will hit head but it wont so hard that it will damage her head. Don't be tempted to use cot bumpers as they are more dangerous as they cant breath thru them if they end up against them.

DS2 is still swaddled and in bassinet.
