    Exclamation Runny Nose slightly yellow..Daycare??

Can anyone please advise, i realise the rule of thumb is that if the mucus from nose is clear, its all good to go to daycare, but what if its clear and then randomly a little yellow??

Lily was suppose to be at daycare, 30mins ago but i am furously trying to doulble check, i have contacted her daycare and just said if its clear then yeah come, but iam worried that its clear and then they may see a little random yellow and i ll be putting other kids at risk!

If it is just random like you said, I would send her if she is happy enough to go and you are comfortable she will still cope with the day etc and it hasn't affected her sleep.

Yeah, green of course is a no-no - especially when they are little cos they all put things in their mouths including other kids fingers

The rule at our daycare for colds is that if the child is otherwise well, no fever and eating and drinking ok they're fine to go.

I didn't think they excluded anywhere for common colds? Toddlers get colds constantly until they're two, there's not much can be done about it

i think it comes down to how you feel about it, if you think she can cope and if she is otherwise well... also really if you have the time to keep her home, then do so...
I usually just use my judgement, and err on the side of caution - i dont want other kids t get sick and also like DS to be home if he is under the weather - so if I CAN keephim home i do err on the side of doing so even if he would not be excluded.

Thanks so much for your responses, fab advice, its so hard and a thin line between the recovery. She is happy and has her beans back so on all your advice i have sent her. Thankyou, Lily has only been going to day care for the last few months for the first time. and its the first time she has been ill since attending, so i suppose you could say, i am new to this! thanks again.. Daycare CANNOT exclude for common colds. Do not let them! It's not within the "Staying Healthy in Childcare" guidelines.
As Tobily said, no fever, eating, drinking OK etc, it's no worries. Jury's out on the whole clear/yellow/green snot thing anyway. Some doctors say yellow/green is the expulsion of the infection, others say that's when they're contagious, some say it depends ont he individual. We had a little one at a daycare where I worked who had green snot for 10 weeks. And it was only 10 weeks because we stopped counting after that! And she was fine the whole time, just a really uniquely snotty kid.

at drop-off, just explain that the child has had a runny nose, but has otherwise been OK, and that you'll call in a few hours to see how they're going (much nicer than asking CCWs to call you - it's far easier to be handed a phone than to leave 10 babies behind and search out the phone, find your number in a file of 46 children then call your work number, mobile, then partner's number as well because nobody's answering)

That's what I would do, and that's what I would love most parents to do
    i hope it went OK.
