Livingthedream - I was talking about not giving opinion on the cancer movie, not the topic of Mercola.. but now we are on that topic, I will give an opinion...
Epacris - whether he is an aids denialist or not, I dont really care - people are entitled to their own opinions on things. I didnt know he was - but just because I think he is great at giving people an alternative perspective on topics of health, doesn't necessarily mean I support all of his opinions regarding everything. Also IMO, a Dr selling his own brand of infant formula is a far different ball game to the issues with big pharma..
Onyx - I dont believe he is all about snake oil at all, he is very good at informing people on some very real and concerning truths in medicine..
Oh, and my own very good doctor, who has people waiting for 8mths plus to get into his surgery, is also a follower of Mercola.
Talk about being totally shot down for sharing a link..

Tinkerbelle, be careful not to tar all chemotherapeutic agents with the same brush. Perhaps you would like to read up on newer therapies like monoclonal antibodies (eg Mabthera) which have made a significant impact in disease-free survival rates (and even "cure") for many blood cancers in the last 10 years.

I certainly agree that it's problematic that big pharma is not interested in investigating inexpensive remedies for cancer and other chronic disease, but fortunately there are plenty of independent and publicly funded research organisations that do. It's important to remember that it's not necessarily big pharma that's running the show, but thousands of highly motivated and skilled physicians who constantly review the evidence-based research. Fortunately this means (in Australia) that if you fall into a cohort where the benefit of a particular treatment regimen is borderline, you are likely to have this explained to you so you can have input into your own treatment pathway. Chemotherapy *is* expensive, unpleasant, and sometimes dangerous and if curing cancer were as simple as treating systemic fungal disease, trust me, the funding model in this country would be quick to pick that up.

If Dr Mercola is so passionate about this cause, perhaps he could divert the profits away from "building his website" to funding some independent, unbiased, double-blind, evidence-based research. I"m sure the research community could be swayed by the donation of the proceeds of sale of his multi-million dollar luxury property
