Well hate to say it, but as of this year,( 2010) all preschoolers in every state need to provide an up to date vaccination schedule for their child at enrolment... I Guess Lulu , that your children were already attending before then....

it's not discriminating really, every child has a right to be safe from diseases which can be prevented

The above information has been attached to every enrolment package I have picked up, over 6 in total....

M2R- do you have a reference for that info? It has been spread wrongly as rumour for many years so would like to read something official if it has been introduced.

We live in a free society so i don't know how they could not allow for conscientous objectors.

I know that both of the daycare centres DD has been to don't take non-vacced kids. (We didn't choose them for that reason, it was just coincidental)

The 12 month one IS hard to watch, and DD get get terribly bruised...but it's over so fast...thankfully, the 18 month one is literally just one needle. Compared to the 12 month one, it was a breeze!

I see no reason why you couldn't break up the 12 month one into two or three lots.

we had 3 nurses jab DD at one for the 12 month one, if your worried about the fear she might have, get them to do that. its hard seeing them have it done isnt it!
M2R pretty sure they either have to be vaccinated, OR have a note from thier doctor saying why thier not.... which can include the parents religious or personal choices.

In place of such a vaccination record, a Conscientious Objectors form can be provided and MUST be accepted, unless it is a private institution.

Vaccination is NOT mandatory in this country, or any state, and thus cannot be used to preclude ANY child from attendance at ANY State institution.

My 3 youngest are not vac, and 2 are enrolled for preschool this year.
I just gave them my CO form. No hassle at all.
They asked about the CP vac, but they have all had chicken pox anyway, so they were quite happy.

chick izzy has had no vaccs at all.
she'll be getting them as she enters the day care system (if she doesnt it'll be b4 primsry school, which ever way it works first) we feel that we are in a low risk category
u can absolutely get them done seperately if u want to. do when ur ready to

Yeah, you should read the info then. It is totally untrue and a long term rumour that children could be excluded from education due to their vacc status. How on EARTH could you not think that is discriminatory????

My DD attended both Daycare and Kinder this year. In fact I didn't have to provide the CO, I just told them of her status.

but in response to you OP, I think you have to decide whats right for you personally. Although PB and I don't or vacc, we may have different reasons. Some people are quite happy for their kids to catch CP or measles and get it over with when they are young, some don't trust the ingredients in jab etc.

I found the debates in this section very good, have you had a good look in here? There is also lots of reasons given by both sides for vacc/nonvacc so maybe see what resonates with you and go from there. Don't hesitate to ask questions!

Thats so true.
People who dont vac do it for many and varied reasons.
As do some pro vac people I amagine.
Only you can make that desicion for your family.

And you can even change your mind later if you want!!!

I vac my first 3 kids, cause your "supposed to".. and I havn't my last 3.... and there are BIG differences to the 2 lots of kids, thats for sure!
I had decided to vac at 2 yrs, but changed my mind, and have left it till just before school. And I'm glad I did. They have had CP now, and dont need the vac, and have very little chance of ever getting it again. My vac kids have all had twice already!!! And their immune systems are amazing, so so much better than the big kids.

I did consent for my teen to get the Hep vac, as he is in high school and playing sports with all different kids. Its one I thought was important at the time. I declined the others.
So I'm not "anti vac", I guess I am a "selective vac'er"

So talk to your doc, read and read and research. You can get them all together, seperate, delayed or not at all.
The choice is yours!

It is hard to watch but i think to give me children the best chance and preventing them from serious deiease's. my kids have never had any probs...my 4 yrs had his done and he was sooo brave....my 19mth old didnt care though it was funny lol

Wow - I thought I was the only one who spread out the vacc's! I 'refused' the hep vacc at birth and when I look at the baby book it has in big writing 'DECLINED BY MOTHER' as if I am supposed to feel bad for it.

DD didnt have ANY injections until 2mths

I refused the jabs at birth, and my Pead said "good on you"!!!

Nothing has been noted in my blue books at all. I didnt sign the consent, so the midie just left and handed me the book back...
