That does sound like a lot of water for a 1 year old to me. I think on the safe side, go to your GP and ask if she can be tested for diabetes.

It will probably be nothing but better safe than sorry and if it is diabetes, the earlier it is diagnosed, the better!

Good luck and I hope the outcome is positive!

I'd be concerned with this too and would definately go to your doctor. Especially seeing as she is so desperate as to drink out of her bath toys... My DS1 has always drunk lots of water, but never that much consistently like that.

Jack was drinking about this much too, he dropped off to about 1.5ltrs over winter and is probably still 1 litre + a day

I asked my CHN and dr and they all said it was good for him the only thing it may do is decrease his appetite a little

Thought i might pop into the 'good' medical centre today while i was at the shops, thinking it was a good time to go and all (i.e not in the morning and b4 school finished) but each doctor had a two hour wait. A two hour wait to ask a question... a two hour wait with a toddler that is into everything. I know i will have to do it but i think i will have to be prepared to go put my name down and come back.
Dont know why but thought id share that with you all

My eldest DS was always like this!!! Everyone would tell me to have him tested for diabetes, in the end, I caved in and got him tested. No diabetes, just a thirsty little guy! He is now 14 and still exactly the same. He takes a 2lt bottle of water to bed with him at night and drinks the lot throughout the night. All up he would drink around 4lts a day now. I just make sure he has enough salt in his diet too (we use celtic sea salt) because all that water can strip essential salts and minerals from your system.
I hope your little guy is fine. What a PITA having to wait so long to see a Dr. I hope next time you go, someone cancels and you get in quicker
