I'm sleeping DS#2 on his tummy and he's only 2 months old. I started last week. He's been strong since day one and can hold his head up for minutes at a time so I know he could move his head if need be. He was not sleeping at all during the day on his back and only for 2-3 hours at night which after 8 weeks was just too exhausting. On his tummy he sleeps for 5 or 6 hours at night and 2-3 hours during the day and is MUCH happier - as am I.

We have an Angelcare sound and motion baby monitor which really puts my mind at ease. He is currently sleeping in our room in a bassinette, but he's almost grown out of it and manages to wriggle up to the top (which is only about five cms away from his head anyway) so we might see a move into his cot in his own room soon.

Whatever works for you is best. I was so paranoid with DS1 that I probably would have suffered through the little sleep until he could roll over (which was only 11 weeks anyway), but with two little boys it's too hard to go without sleep.

Both of my kids are tummy sleepers and have been since being released from hospital.

We have a breathing monitor on their cot though, so we are probably more relaxed about SIDS than someone who doesn't have a monitor.

    Sorry just saw this now.

We got ours online - google babysense breathing monitors.

We are using it on our second child now, so its definitely worth the money.
