You can try steam from the shower.
Run a really hot shower fill the room with steam and take him in for a while it may help to break anything up on his chest.
You can put the normal vicks on his sock rather than straight on his skin.
You could also try slightly raising the end of his cot.
I hope he is better soon.

If his nose is a bit snotty I'd use the fess 'snot sucker' to clear that as well. My ds2 has been coughing a little bit lately and I'm 99% sure it's mainly from the snot dripping down his throat! Gross!

I also put eucalyptus oil in my oil burner and have that going in the lounge during the day, plus those door snakes on the doors to keep the cold draughts out.

    Hope he's better soon!

thanks so much for your posts. i just went in to his room and used fess up his nose a couple of sprays which seemed to clear it out a little. i also raised the end of his cot slightly using a pillow. he cuddled his teddy and seemed happy. he normally heads off to sleep at 6.30am so i'm sure he'll have a sleep in tomorrow morning! his vaporiser is still going. i also put vicks on some socks and popped on his feet. that baby balsam is not strong enough! i can hardly smell it! let's hope we all get some sleep tonight, poor little fella

Agh, we have the coughs here too. For my DD, the blocked nose is what does it - breathing through her mouth makes her cough. Horrible, isn't it? It's the worst not being able to do anything. Hoping you all get some sleep.

oh no, it's flared up again tonight. have tried absolutely everything again, this really sucks honestly - it's a dry cough and i can't do a thing for him, i'm so tempted to give him cough medicine, seriously! actually, i don't think i have any! he's been coughing since 6.30pm, it's now 9pm and i have headed in there twice, just put more vicks on his socks, baby balsam on chest and i actually turned the vaporiser off this time, it's really hot and humid in his room, could this be making he cough up the mucus as it's all breaking up? i'm so over this, poor little mite!
