I am fairly certain redundancy payments are classed as income - if it is taxable and needs to be included on your tax return, it is assessable income. My DH has received a few redundancy payments in the last few years (he is in construction so is made redundant from jobs at least every couple of years with the end of each project), and each time we have received a separate payment summary that has to be included on his tax return. With the baby bonus, provided your DH's earnings are not going to be over $75k in the first 6 months after bub is born (so $150k for the year), you will be able to get it. So unless you think his redundancy and other earnings are going to total more than that, I would apply for it once bub is born anyway. Same for FTB part B.
redundancy payments are generally included for FAO estimates, so it will boost your income up if it's received after the baby arrives. under social security law, whether it's taxable or not isn't taken into account - that's why many people who are made redundant have to serve such a long waiting period before qualifying for income support payments.
under Family Assistance law, if it's not taxable, it would likely appear on your estimate as a tax free payment. PM me your enquiry with dates, and i'll see whether i can find the applicable laws for you next week
