How much do you earn per hour and what do you do?
DH and I are both self employed, charging about $40 P/H. He is a floor and wall tiler, I am a saddler
However, I am "over" being self employed and am looking to go back to being employed, albeit doing the same trade I am now, I was thinking that I can only afford to do this if I get $25 p/h (before tax).
I have no idea what people get paid these days.

I'm a nurse on two different pay levels and I earn between $27 and $37 an hour (depending on which job I'm doing).

I get anywhere between $25 and $50 an hour depending on what role I'm doing, if I get the job I interviewed for yesterday (then I'll be on just under $45 an hour), it is for a specialist project role (once that contract is up I'll be on the $50+/hr rate for project roles). At the moment I'm earning a bit under $30 and I'm a cabinet correspondence officer.

i'd agree checking the award for your type of work is the only way to know if an offer is a good pay rate for what you do

i work in a govvy call centre - i am on good money for what i do (compared to previous jobs/award) but not as good as some other call centre positions (both govvy and private).

i don't consider the dollar value of my role to be the primary driver towards whether i'm being paid the best i can for my job. other conditions definitely help. things like additional super, working in a fantastic office (we are ranked number 1 call centre for gov and combined gov/private for CC our size in both vic and AU), flexibility. yeah, it would be nice to be earning the same as some of the other CC's (we are negotiating at the moment) BUT, there is so much more to what keeps me content there kwim?? days like yesterday - when our supervisor went and got the ingredients to make us raspberry spiders "just because". the fact our team have a morning tea once a month. the massive amount of fundraising we do as a centre. it all contributes to us being happy to show up to work

definitely something to think about on top of the $$

I agree with BG - my job has allowed me to come back from maternity leave part time. They are also really flexible with hours and often will not take time off out of my allowances. My hourly rate is pretty good, but my work conditions are what keeps me at this job.

$25 an hour plus super, and I work for a global construction company doing an admin/PA role. I'm only on a contract though, so if I were to be permanent my hourly rate would drop.

AFAIK saddler falls under some miscellaneous and obscure category and I cannot find which one it is lol. But award wage is really not the point. I need to get $25 P/h to justify going back to employment. If it was up to me, I would do it for $20, just so I dont have to run my own business and deal with all of the hassles and petty grievences (sp) that it brings. But the reality is that it would not be fair to DH to have to take up the slack financially just because I have a hatred of paperwork, postage and customer relations lol.
I am just longing for the simplicity of leaving work at work and knowing how much $ will be in my acc at the end of the week.
I guess I just wanted to hear that $25 p/h for skilled labour was reasonable. Last time I had a "proper"job (18 yrs ago) I think I was on about $14.50 p/h
Now to find someone who wants me......

unfortunately, for a lot of labor positions, $25 is probably at the higher end of the scale for payment. minimum wage is 1178 per fortnight for full time hours - many labor positions are not much above this.

$19 p/h as a casual HSC exam supervisor (assistant). The fully trained one earns $25.

I don't get paid per hour but per shift. They're as little as 4 hours + as much as 7 hours in a shift and I get $150 per shift (before tax. After tax it's $136.36)

I think you'd all die if I told you my hourly rate.

But it's fair to say that I don't do 40 hrs a week and I do an awful lot of unpaid stuff like research and prep that's not part of my usual fee.

And I've spent an awfully long time studying.

I guess it depends.

I have studied lots also and earn a very decent hourly rate in my part time role for a large corporate. I do lots of unpaid hours also.
