Includes future purchases for:
Furniture
White Goods
Car replacement
Education
Orthodontist

Estimate how much each would cost and when they're likely to be needed (eg, car in 5 years, fridge in 10 years, new bed in 12 years), then work out a periodic amount you need to set aside to take care of these when they occur. Put this into a separate account if you can, so it's not touched until you need it.

What about beautician? If you get waxed/facials/manicures etc
Make up and oher personal purchases
Shoes - can be part of clothing
Life insurance?
Entertainment

Hm.. we usually get our white goods on interest free loans (which work well if you don't abuse them - and we never have, we change our budget to suit the repayments and pay it off as quick as we can) so I probably won't worry about that at the moment, will discuss with DH about the car option though, cos I know he wants a second car.

Uh don't get waxes or manicures, don't wear make up, have kids for entertainment and don't have life insurance!

No personal loan, no car loan - got rid of that when we sold our qld house.

PHI is great for general dental and covers a fair portion of regular check-ups etc., but as soon as anything serious happens (root canal, implants etc.) then the cover is laughable (we have the best policy out their for comprehensive dental and it hardly makes a dent in it). I suppose it is largely estimated on your general dental health as a family. My teeth are shocking and cost us so much (just finishing up on a single implant that has just cost us $6k). Root canal and crowns can be as expensive as $4k if you want a proper job done. My dentist always tells me "When you decide not to floss each day just add up how much it will cost you if you lose teeth at $5k a pop"! Which may explain why so many people are walking around with no teeth

I will now get off of my dental soap box - hopefully those figures will help your estimations.

Well I've finished the budget.. and we have $1 at the end of every fortnight spare.. LOL

However - I think everything is covered - well except for entertainment and takeaway - but we can live without those for a while
