DH and I are with MBF, (Dh's work has a corporate plan with this company) we carried over from HIF.
Since we were both fully covered for pregnancy and IVF etc, we had NO waiting limit. Generally speaking, you only have to serve this 'waiting period' once in your life. No matter the health fund. Have you been insured before for maternity/top hospital cover?
i am with Latrobe, and have been for all my adult life (near on 13 years since i came off my folks - and they were with them at least five years prior)
never ever had a problem claiming with them
have hospital, and extras with them, (and have contents, cars etc through them as well)
they are based locally here so we can go into a branch if need be- if they can't answer your enquiry on the phone immediately, they follow it up and get back to you. they use hicaps so you get full coverage at some hospitals, minimal gap at others.
they also do fortnightly direct debit for payment with no extra fees.
a friend of mine was working as a team leader at iselect until recently - she got a staff member to run a comparison of what they could offer vs what i had, fees etc - and they couldn't compete at all.
I just saw this - we made the switch to Latrobe a few months back. They were the cheapest when we went through iselect and I liked that they were local. They always take the money out of the account on the exact day they said they would too, which is great. The other health funds I was with didn't, just took it sometime around the day specified.
LynsDan - you probably haven't heard of them because I think they only do Vic. They don't advertise on metro tv here in Melb either, don't know about the country stations though.
Oh just seen this thread. I have been with Latrobe for the last 8 yrs and LOVE them. I have no affiliation either btw - just was recommended them by a friend and have had a super experience ever since, so reasonbly happy forking out the $$ as I have a great choice of product and have experienced excellent customer service.
I'll add my name to the list. I'm happy with them too. I have no affiliation either ;0)
I like that they do ambulance cover through the actual ambulance vic membership. Then you are covered regardless. Some health funds (like the last one i was with) had limits and only covered what they deemed an emergency etc.
PS DH loves that they send him reply paid envelopes when you claim by snail mail. Our dentists use HICAPS now tho. Also the Terry WHite Chemist near us (SOuthland) is an agent for them also.
