Pixi Photos - Has anyone been able to bargain them down in price?

The only times I've bought packages from them is when they've has a super special on. Both times I've bought the packages I got a super big photo with the smaller ones, the bigger one was thrown in for free when I ordered the package. That was the only way I could spend that amount of money. I've only got those 2 packages & DD is 4.5yrs old, so I didnt get any when she was under 3yrs old & I dont regret that.
I dont think they lower the prices, they're pretty strict

Can I just say, I bought a jet black bed sheet (QS) & folded it in half so it was extra dark, pinned it up on the wall or over the lounge & took some photos of the kids with that.... they turn out pretty good with good lighting etc. I even had people question one I took last christmas of both kids, everyone thought it was proffessionally taken!!! Give it a try maybe?

I'm the sucker who bought them!
I paid around $500 when DS was 3 months old, I got 3 large wall portraits and 4 8x10's.
I don't regret it though, they're gorgeous photos but I'm not going back again, will get a local photographer, actually we're due to have a family portrait done, must get on to that!

I don't get Pixi Photos done anymore becuase they're way too expensive. Years ago they used to offer them to you at half price after they'd stored them for a few months and were going to destroy them. They don't do that now as far as I know.

we just got family photos done through my niece's kinder - 3 poses (she did four but that's cos she thought DD was cute lol) - one large family pic, framed, included - $12 - and the kinder got that money. they then do sets of photos - the most exxy is $225 and includes another framed photo, 27 photos of varying sizes, and the CD with all photos taken, including the rights to print as you see fit. without the disc it's 175 for all the photos

if you know anyone with kids in kinder/school maybe find out about it - much better value!

We have something similar with our school/kindy. It is $10 for the framed photo and the whole package for 3 poses including CD is around $170. I got ours done this year and got a huge discount, as we are their new "family portrait" The photographer said the old one was outdated and he was looking for a new family portrait for all the flyers and displays he does. We were it.

In my experience with them I found that they wont negotiate on price but they will throw in freebies - I scored several larger photos that way plus photo frames and albums etc. But I did find that you get stuck with loads of left over photos - the last time I had it done with them about 5 years ago you got your 'freebie' then the 8 x 10, 5 x 7 , 4 wallet prints and 4 keyring size prints and it was too many to get rid of them all.

I ended up taking some photos of DD myself when I got home with our dogs. Not as good, but not bad for an amateur like myself!

We just cant afford it as much as I love the photos.

Not with Pixie Photo but another group who do the rounds at major shopping centres. I had pics done of DD when she was around 12 months. When I went to collect them, I was really disappointed. The smaller ones were ok in the different poses but as they were blown up, they were out of focus. And some of the smaller ones also had faults. I sat there umming and ahhing for awhile before pointing out the faults to the lady and telling her I take better photo's of my child (and other children) regularly. They knocked the price down dramatically and I took them (because I COULD get rid of all the photo's!).

The sheet idea is a good one. My old Mothers Group did this. We set up several areas and themes and took photo's to make up a calendar for Christmas Presents. It was a great (all day) event and worked really well!
