I am fairly certain redundancy payments are classed as income - if it is taxable and needs to be included on your tax return, it is assessable income. My DH has received a few redundancy payments in the last few years (he is in construction so is made redundant from jobs at least every couple of years with the end of each project), and each time we have received a separate payment summary that has to be included on his tax return. With the baby bonus, provided your DH's earnings are not going to be over $75k in the first 6 months after bub is born (so $150k for the year), you will be able to get it. So unless you think his redundancy and other earnings are going to total more than that, I would apply for it once bub is born anyway. Same for FTB part B.
