We are with a credit union as well (TEachers credit union). They're pretty good, way better than one of the big banks I used to use ('which bank?' )
We dont pay fees as we have our mortgage with them and the Visa debit card is really good because you can used it like a credit card but its your own money.
You do have to be a teacher tojoin this particular credit union, but there are heaps of other CU's that anyone can join, and from what I've seen most of the credit union do a Via or Mastercard Debit card and usually dont charge huge fees.

Definately have a look at some of the Credit unions before looking at the banks.
