What was your childcare increase for 2012?

Just keen to know how others have been impacted by increasing cost of childcare. I have 2 children attending a long day care 2 days per week, one is 4 1/2 and the other is 21 months. Our fortnightly bill has increased by almost $100, even after the 50% rebate has been applied. We are not eligible for CCB, so this has not changed.

I wasn't expecting the impact to be quite so much! I am wondering if our centre is in line with other increases, or if this is way above the norm?

Ours increased but I don't even know by how much they told us in sept last year and I didn't
Pay much attention and I just paid the first week, but there was other bits and pieces that had to be paid at the start of the year also.

I think my DS in the baby room it's $77 and for dd in the big kids room is $72.

    What are your fees?

We are now paying $82 for the big kids room and $92 for the 0-2 room. Our fees were pretty similar to yours before the changes. I am just grateful that DD starts school next week so our bill will go down, as $100 is a lot of extra money to find out of each pay!

We are paying $92 for under 3 and $87 for over 3. Was $87 and $82. Went up last aug/sept.

$85 per day or $80 full time = $10 increase per day.

$70 per day, up from $66. DS is only going one day per week this year. After all the rebates I pay $27 so thankfully we barely notice the increases at this stage. I'm sure that will change when we have two in care.

I called pre end of year and to my surprise no increase.

I am a bit sour though - dd has been at her childcare since about 6 weeks after it opened its doors and now - thank you herald sun who named the cheapest childcare centres (ours being the second cheapest at $67 a day) its impossible to get additional days for work now I have to pay full fee for occassional care if I have to up my days for any extended period of time.

I must admit I knew they were very cheap (childcare has risen so much in 4 years so they were in line back then but never put their fees up) but I love dds childcare because they are more than 18 year old directors and 17 year old carers like so many places near us. They have a big variety of ages caring for the kids, they are under control if the kids, they have big rooms and outdoor play areas- age specific and they had a 0-1 room. When we moved though we started to commute the extra half hour to keep her there because childcare in our area ranged from filthy to catastrophe and priced as LOW as $80 a day up to $95 a day. We figured we wouldn't spend as much on petrol.

It means dd won't have familiar faces at school but will finish where she started which is nice (I never had that luxury - 4 primary schools, 3 high)

Wow sorry for hijacking your thread- its been playing on my mind if we have another bub so I seem to have unleashed a bit

I have just changed my kids over and no increase that was mentioned for now. At their old centre it was $88 a day and we are now paying $65 a day So even if they increase by $5 we won't really notice it as it's so cheap. Amazing how a change in suburb and 5 mins down the road makes such a difference in price. We loved our previous place even though the staff were very very young, they had a really low changeover rate of staff and the room leaders for both rooms (who were around 20) were absolutely wonderful. We just didn't feel that we were getting much more for our $$ when down the road we could pay $23 a day per child less.

No increase this year, they put that through last financial year. We pay $70 per day regardless of the room, they worked out whilst each room has its own expense that is the highest, it is offset by the things they don't use. So the babies room has high carer expenses, but they don't use much in the way of art supplies, unlike the 3-5 room.

Wish mine would put theirs up, they do no make a profit (council run). Would rather pay a little more per week than be hit with fundraisers and expensive photo sessions throughout the year.

Ours went from $62 to $65.

But I was only paying $14 a week for two days so that's going up to $20 now.

It's cheap for us being on a very low income and I study.

We were paying about $280 per week (4 day week) and now it is a little over $313. Dd is in 4 year old room which also offers an accredited kinder program. I can't wait for the savings when she starts school in a few weeks!

Ours are up $10 a day to $110 per day. Thank goodness I only have to use 1 day (but work 2.5 a week) and we get CCR!

Gee, I'm jealous! Some of you are getting great rates! Ours have gone from $94.50 to $101 a day. That's for the 2-3's room, I think the babies room is about $105.

We just started this year but we pay $95 per day and I think last year it was $85 per day.

It does sound like a big increase, did the centre have to hire additional staff this year to meet the new child to staff ratios?? That might explain..

I pay $10.50 a day for DS who goes twice a week ($72 full rate I think) and $12.50 a day per DD who go 1 day a week ($77 full rate). That's $117 a fortnight.
