    You're all lucky.

When my DSs were in daycare (up until end of January 2011) their fees were $110 per day. Each. And I provided all their nappies, formula (when they were babies), food, drinks etc. Everything. It's the price I pay for living in one of the most expensive suburbs in one of the most expensive cities in Australia.

The fees are now $125 per day.

That similar to what I pay now, and I too have to supply formula and nappies!
    I wish it was $70 a day!

Oh well, at least it's only 3 days a week!

I think mine charges about $85 per day full rate. When DD2 and DD3 were going last year it worked out at $450.00 per fortnight for a 10 day stint (that's with the CCR) DD2 starts school in a couple of weeks so will only have to pay for DD3, at least until DD4 starts

Our was $70 a day and now $80 for over 3 and $85 for under 3.. so an increase of $10 - $15 a day. Going to stretch us.

And to think my parents are complaining about the $2 rise my management decided on! Hopefully these fee rises go with the saying 'if you want quality you have to pay for it'.

We have gone from $129 to $145 per day for the babies room... Sadly it doesn't decrease too much for the older rooms.
Thank goodness it's only 2 days a week!!

Wowzers that's huge! Centres charging that amount must be making a big big profit. Quick estimate on weekly fees and its around $45 000! Your centre takes in a day what mine does for a week.

Yeah it's crazy, probably the most expensive in the country I'm guessing. It is awesome though, its in demand, there's a two year wait list to get in, we had our name down since 6 wks pg and were lucky to get in as DH work has an affiliation with them...
There is definitely some profiteering going on though.

It's an astronomical price increase we only started early Jan, we were paying $119 before at our old one, not sure if it increased.

I reckon $6000-7000 would pull up the costs of paying staff so after expenses, that's a lot of spare moula!

OMG Redgum, that is a lot of money for childcare!

Thanks everyone, its good to hear that we aren't the only ones with a big increase, but are still not paying the top-end fees.

Lower North Shore hun, so my guess is a lot of it actually goes to real estate, it's a purpose built state of the art centre - but to be honest the rent would be where a lot of the $$ goes - but yeah like I said they would be making a small fortune from it, but people (me included) are willing to wait to get in and willing to pay I guess, so they can do what they want!

They supply formula (they buy in the one I use which is Aptomil Gold - their standard is S26 gold or something like that), nappies, food, sunscreen. They also teach the children mandarin, not for DD's age, but as they get older. They have great staff and a fabulous school readiness program which links in with the local school.

It's very $$ but we only have her in their two days a week. We don't get the rebate only the benefit so we have to pay a lot right now.

Appletree - I think increases are across the board, childcare isn't cheap, there does seem to be a HUGE variation in price though!

Yep. Leasing costs are massive. More than $30k a month here and then $12-$15k a week for net wages, plus expenses. Adds up.

It's easy to think that there is profiteering happening but it may not necessarily be the case.

I'm not 100% sure what our increase is, but I know when I read the form it didn't phase me much, I think it was like $5 a day or something, so only $2.50ish after the rebate, so I'm not too worried at the moment lol
