What's your average daily elec usage?

DH is quite anal about keeping costs low! Were only allowed to use the a/c when were absolutely dying from heat (as we were for the last 3 weeks). We use fans in the meantime. We have gas hot water, stove & oven. We don't leave any appliances on at the switch except microwave & DVD/BluRay/TV etc. We only wash clothes once a week (no kids yet - TTC). No dryer or dishwasher. No gardening appliances cause all we have is grass ATM but hopefully that will change soon! We turn off lights in rooms were not in & DH refuses to use the bathroom heating lights in winter. I use them when he's not home but if he is he tells me off, lol

Well it is pretty bad to admit this but our last bill was...... 62 units/day

Its been a stinking hot summer here so a/c has been running non-stop (I am very glad that its cooled down for a few days now!) we also have a pool to run and a massive 1200L saltwater tank filled with corals & fish so special lights are needed to keep everything alive. And we have all the usual household stuff too...

Local libraries may have Power Mates (or same thing with different names) that you can borrow which you can tell you how much different appliances are using. Might be useful to ahve a look at your useage. Power companies also have tips and advice on energy savings, and some local councils have similar sorts of programs to encourage reduced usage.

I just paid my bill, I was most dissapointed because we have just moved a few months ago and have now got gas hot water... we have also changed companies too though...

electricity this time last year for 90 days was $360 compared with this period for 79 days was $353 plus gas for 80 days was $117

so essentially we got a $110 increase from a year ago. A lot of extra money for a span of 3 months, not looking forward to the next bill.

I always thought it cheaper to run gas, how wrong was I? It actually cost twice as much when you look closer at the bill.

I guess i will be another one to run and hide..
ours that i got last week was 27 units a day... this time last year it was 18 units a day.
We now have an Air con that i shamefully admit to using way too often.

Just another question, would anyone else mind sharing how much you pay per unit?

Our last bill was 9.56kWh which is $2.60 per day. We have 2 TV's, laptop, electric stove/oven, evap cooling (which has hardly been used this year) and basic fridge, dishwasher.

I used the government website here to find the cheapest one for me in Qld.

So I've been with Integral for 3 years now. I don't sign up to "green" power plans.

My first contract was for 10% off, and when it came up for renewal they sent me a letter for 5%, which I then double checked online and asked for their 7% offer.

I pay approx 19 cents per kWh for my domestic power, and then the 7% comes off that. Everyone complains here about the increased costs, however I know interstate, the rates are even higher.
