great article
I would like to further her point about women having control of their bodies. this can be a confusing notion. I would rather think that women are choosing to not have their bodies controlled by others. this does not necessarily then mean that they are attempting to control their own bodies in birth ITMS. In an ideal setting, a woman should feel safe and nutured enough to fully relinquish her body to the process of labour and birth. It does irk me a bit, that when a woman HBs there is a slight disparaging tone by onlookers that it is because she is some sort of 'control freak'. This is the same when a woman creates her birth plan and people chime in, that it is pointless as 'birth plans go out the window' on the day. A good birthplan that is backed and supported by adequate advocates by a woman's side will NEVER go 'out the window', as each and every contigency has been accounted for.
anyway, off my rant lol.
thanks for posting HotI
