Come on all, we can't give up.... if the pollies wont listen lets let the journos who we love to hate hear our anger and passion - thats what they love to publish! People with fire in their bellies...

From Justine Caines - Home Birth Australia

Dear All

I am just home from the Rudd rally in Brisbane (ah the joys of living in rural NSW!).

I was so proud to be part of the birth reform movement today, so many wonderful women who came at short notice to yet again support homebirth and women's rights.

As people have reported their was close to 400 in Brissy and Melbourne, 200 in Sydney and 100 in Perth. This is FABULOUS.

There were some areas that did exceptionally well in rallying the troops, Toowoomba stands out, well done lovely women of the Darling Downs!

At the Brissy rally we had a woman and her daughter from Cairns, Lisa Barrett came from Adelaide. It was a great turnout with a good feeling.

The media has been fantastic. In Brisbane we got all 4 TV news, I did a live national ABC cross for the 12 noon bulletin, we also had ABC radio, 4BC, The Courier Mail.

The Australian is doing a piece tomorrow.

As you may know Kevin Rudd has said he is 'unmoved' by our protest.

I suggest as many as possible write letters to the Ed's of major papers balling it right back about his arrogance over denying women basic rights. Email contacts are below.

This is a very easy and effective way to keep the issue alive.

Once again thanks to all the great women (and a few good blokes). It was a very positive day in times that are very bleak.

We can do this as hard as it may seem.

In solidarity

Justine Caines
