I am in Scotland at the moment so I can't join in with these protests and am limited to following them on Facebook.
The thing that devastated me most was the same day as this last protest, a bunch of GP's (about 300 I think) were protesting against massive GP super centres, and they had their protest reported in The Australian, but this was did not get a mention (online at least).
Why are women and birth given such little attention and care from this government and the media? It really makes me want to weep.
All i can say is that it would be a completely different story if MEN gave birth!! I'm sure they'd prefer the comfort and safety of their own home rather than a strange white room with no doors, no comfort, no privacy, and definately no 'safe space'.
This is a really scare time and I am devastated by this news. I was going to contact HACK today (Triple J's current affairs program) but it looks like they have covered the story...but... without any attention to the core problem which is that homebirths will inevitably become illegal, good one triple J.
I can't believe that an organization of men will be allowed to make such an important decision which will blatantly strip away the rights of Australian women.
