Just a note for any Central QLD BBers (or those who know any!) - Gladstone, Library Square, 9am (10am NSW time). A friend and I pulled this one together at the last minute, we didn't even have time to contact the local paper this afternoon, so it will likely be a very small event, but we're hoping to get a few faces there to help us spread the word and add our voices to the chorus that will be ringing out across our great nation tomorrow morning.

I became aware of the protest today and was wondering if its okay for a male to attend. I see however, that the Brisbane protest is a long way out from the city so the question may only be academic. I do offer my support. For the first time ever I recently sent a letter of protest to the Prime Minsiter over this issue.
I obviously support a woman's right to make her own decisions about her body. My partner gave birth to our son in an induced hospital birth but our second child was a homebirth. No need for me to state the differences but there is another aspect which I also think is very relevant.
Our son was nearly 4 when his sister was born. He attended pre-natal classes and had seen videos of births. He was there at the birth (during the labour and birth he did various things like watch television in another room, hold a mirror for his mother, bring his mother a glas of water and use the video camera). His mother did not disappear fro days and come home with a rival. He was part of something special and part of the whole birthing experience.
He is now 22 and she is 19. They are very supportive of each other and consider each other among their close friends. I feel this strong bond between them is at least partially due to his being present at what was a beautiful and natural life experience.
Welcome Malesupport! What a wonderful post - my children also attended their siblings births. It is a beautiful and natural gift for our children to model birthing, pregnancy & parenting in an intuitive and natural way.
It's a shame youwon't be able to make it to the protest (I sadly cannot either...) but my spirit and intent will be there too.
Thankyou Malesupport for joining our forum, for working for the cause of safe birthing choices for women & for being a voice. Please do stick around BB I am sure in your 20 odd years of fathering you have a wealth of wisdom for us all...![]()
