She has a name . But I hope to keep it from the forums so I guess only those friends with me on FB are aware. Sorry!

As for her health, we had an up down up up down day. Towards the end of the day we saw her blood sugars begin to stabilise after doing a rollercoaster all day.

I have learned that breast milk is absolute gold, and I have a very special friend who needs a very special thank you. She knows who she is!

Congrats Maruschke! Sounds like you did an awesome job and I'm really looking forward to reading your birth story when you have time to write it up. How's the feeding going now?

She is still developing her suck / swallow reflexes, and is too weak to BF. But she is getting glucose via a cannula, and bm via an ng tube, and we are allowed to trial sucks from now on so long as they don't tire her out (sucks only, not whole feeds).

How are you doing with pumping, M? It's great that she's getting bm - well done despite a rocky start. What is the plan with encouraging her to get on the breast? And I'm so glad you've had support when you needed it. Hope today is a good day for both of you!

Pumping is going well. But any idea why my glands up by my armpits are aching?

Thanks for your encouragement. Today HAS been a better today. She had a nibble at the breast but it lowers her blood sugars to keep trying, so it seems extended pumping is in order. I am so thankful for electric pumps . I'm getting about 60 mls in 3 hours on day 3. Seem about right? One boob is producing much less but I guess that just means I'll be slightly lop sided.

M 60mls is great! When your milk comes in you should get more. I get aches under my arms when my milk is coming in And getting more out of one boob than the other is completely normal too- my right boob was my power boob I used to get 100-130mls out of the right and 30-70 out of the left. Amounts vary on the time of day too. Your doing so well!!! Xxx
